flashinfer is most commonly pronounced "flash in fur" (/ˈflæʃˌɪnfɜːr/). This is the widely-used reading among engineers, though edge cases exist.
Portmanteau of flash + inference; a high-performance GPU kernel/attention library for LLM serving (MLSys 2025, arXiv 2501.01005), a default backend in vLLM/SGLang/TensorRT-LLM. The infer element is from inference and is said like the verb infer (in-FUR), not in-fur as guessed from spelling. STRESS: primary on first syllable, FLASH-in-fur. No creator-quoted pronunciation found, so community-consensus.

Pronouncing project and product names correctly avoids the small but persistent friction of being gently corrected during standups, conference Q&As, and team calls. Hearing the word a few times locks in the right reading better than reading IPA ever will. Pronounce is a community-maintained dictionary — every entry tagged with a confidence level and (where possible) a citable source.
